Join URI Innovations and the New England Medical Innovation Center (NEMIC) for two seminars on evaluating healthcare innovations and understanding the path to market.

NEMIC brings expertise in healthcare product development and commercialization. URI Innovations supports research translation through intellectual property protection, licensing, and startup support. Together, they offer practical guidance and resources to help you determine the next steps for your healthcare idea.

Who Should Attend

Open to faculty, researchers, students, clinicians, and aspiring entrepreneurs developing or exploring innovations with the potential to improve human health. Whether you’re evaluating an early research idea or advancing an existing technology, you’re welcome to attend.

Seminar 1: Commercial Viability: Evaluating the Potential of Your Healthcare Innovation

November 4 | 2–4 p.m. | Engr 025C

Learn how to assess whether your idea addresses a meaningful clinical problem and has commercial potential. This session explores unmet clinical needs, market demand, and the factors that influence adoption beyond the prototype. It also examines common reasons promising healthcare technologies fail to reach the market.

Seminar 2: The Road to Market: What Every HealthTech Innovator Should Know

November 17 | 4–5:30 p.m. | PHMC 240

Explore the healthcare technology commercialization pathway, including regulatory requirements, reimbursement, and clinical validation. This session introduces intellectual property and funding considerations, along with guidance on building the right team and finding resources at different stages of development.

Each seminar includes a 15–30 minute presentation followed by Q&A and information about resources available through URI Innovations and NEMIC. Attend one or both sessions.
